What should you know about family reunification in Andorra?
Family reunification in Andorra allows the relatives of an Andorran citizen or a legal resident with an annual residence and work authorization to live legally in the Principality.
It is a permit designed to guarantee family unity, making it easier for spouses, children, parents, and other people under legal guardianship to settle in the Principality with all the rights and services associated with legal residence. Who is it for?
- The following can be reunified:
- The legally recognized spouse or common-law partner.
- The minor children of the resident or spouse.
- The adult children under legal guardianship or recognized dependency.
- The dependent parents or grandparents, provided they are over 65 years old or retired.
- Other persons under the legal guardianship of the resident, as recognized by current legislation.
Main requirements
- To apply for this permit, it is necessary to comply with:
- Prior residence of the sponsor: live in Andorra legally and effectively for at least 3 months before the application.
- Adequate accommodation: own or rent a property in the Principality.
- Financial resources: prove sufficient income according to current regulations:
- 100% of the Andorran minimum wage for the applicant resident (€1,447.33/month in 2025).
- +100% of the minimum wage for each additional adult.
- +70% of the minimum wage for each minor child.
- Private medical insurance valid in Andorra for the reunified family members.
- Criminal record certificate from the country of origin and previous residence for adults.
Basic necessary documentation

- Official family reunification application form.
- Copy of the sponsor’s residence and work permit or Andorran nationality certificate.
- Proof of legal and effective residence in the Principality for at least 3 months.
- Rental contract or property deed for the home.
- Marriage certificate or civil partnership certificate, if applicable.
- Birth certificates of the children.
- Legal guardianship or custody documents, if necessary.
- Proof of financial income (payslips, tax returns, bank statements…).
- Criminal record certificate for each reunified adult.
- Private medical insurance policy.
Duration of the authorization

- If the sponsor is an Andorran citizen: initial authorization of up to 10 years.
- If the sponsor has residence and work:
- 1st year: initial authorization of the same duration as the sponsoring person.
- Renewals: three periods of 2 years.
- After 7 years: authorizations of 10 years.
- Exception for citizens of Spain, France, and Portugal: after the first 1-year authorization, only two 2-year renewals are required before obtaining the 10-year permit (i.e., after 5 years).
