What is self-employed residence?
The self-employed residence and work permit is an authorization that allows you to live permanently in the Principality of Andorra and carry out an economic or professional activity as a freelancer or entrepreneur.
It is designed for entrepreneurs, investors, and liberal professionals who want to establish themselves in a secure, stable environment with competitive taxation.
Main requirements
- To obtain this permit, you must comply with current immigration regulations and provide the corresponding documentation. Among the most notable requirements:
- Request the authorization within the quota established by the Government.
- Establish effective residence in Andorra (+183 days a year).
- Have at least a 34% stake in an Andorran company and hold a management position, or have the authorization to practice a liberal profession.
- Deposit €50,000 at the Andorran Financial Authority (AFA), a non-remunerated amount.
- Exception: in the case of regulated liberal professions, this deposit is not necessary.
Duration of the authorization
- For nationals of Spain, France, and Portugal:
- 1st year: initial authorization.
- Renewals: two periods of 2 years each.
- From the 5th year onwards: renewals of 10 years.
- For other nationalities:
- 1st year: initial authorization.
- Renewals: three periods of 2 years each.
- From the 7th year onwards: renewals of 10 years.
Basic necessary documentation
- Official application form.
- Valid passport or national identity document (EU/EEA).
- Criminal record certificate.
- Proof of accommodation in Andorra.
- Civil status certificate.
- Curriculum vitae and professional qualifications.
- Foreign investment authorization and company incorporation (in case of business participation).
- Professional practice authorization and professional association registration (in case of liberal professions).
- Official medical examination.
